What is Cyanotype?
Cyanotype is the result of one of the oldest alternative photographic processes, invented in 1842 by English chemist John Herschel.
This method is based on the chemical reaction of iron salts, producing images in distinctive blue hues, known as Prussian blue or cyanotype blue.
The deep tones can range from bright and saturated to more subdued, depending on exposure and processing conditions.
Each piece is unique, and the results are always unpredictable—making every cyanotype a surprise!

How to Care for Cyanotypes?
Storage
  • Keep cyanotypes away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
  • Store them in a dry place, protected from high humidity to avoid damage.
Framing
  • It is best to use a mat or frame for display—not only for aesthetic purposes but also to protect the cyanotype from external factors.
Cleaning
  • Wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust.
  • Do not use chemicals or damp materials, as they may damage the image.
Display
  • Keep cyanotypes away from heat sources and moisture.
Following these simple guidelines will help you preserve your cyanotype in excellent condition for years to come!
